Reiki Drum Healing combined with Reiki symbols and Shamanic Drumming creates a powerful tool for deep physical healing self and others. This is a specialized method of introducing Reiki energy into a client's energy field to facilitate deep relaxation, release of congested areas within the body, helps in changing energy, and assists in relieving stress. As stress is relieved, tensions in the physical body are often released as well. Reiki Drum Healing may open and deepen our connection with spirit and self.
Drumming helps change our consciousness. In ordinary state of consciousness our brainwaves are in what scientist call a “Beta State”. With gentle monotonous drumming our brainwaves slow down to the “Alpha State”, which signals the beginning state of meditation. If the drumming continues our brainwaves slow down even more into a “Theta State”. These different states of consciousness help in reducing stress. It has been proven that stress depresses the immune system and has been linked to nearly all diseases.

A 2001 medical research study indicates that drumming circles boost the immune system. Led by renowned cancer expert Barry Bittman, MD, the study demonstrates that drumming and group drumming actually increases cancer-killing cells, which help the body combat cancer as well as other viruses, including AIDS. According to Dr. Bittman, "Group drumming tunes our biology, orchestrates our immunity, and enables healing to begin." Other studies have demonstrated the calming, focusing, and healing effects of group drumming on Alzheimer's patients, autistic children, emotionally disturbed teens, substance abusers, trauma patients, prison and homeless populations, and war veterans to end trauma such as Post Traumatic Stress. A Reiki Drum Healing Session: The client lays, fully-clothed, on the Reiki table. The client sets an intention for healing and focuses on an affirmation. The Reiki Drum Healing Practitioner intuitively beats the drum over top of the clients’ body, chanting and using the Reiki Symbols.
The Origins of Reiki Drumming
Reiki Drumming was founded and developed by Michael Arthur Baird ~ my teacher and mentor. Michael Arthur Baird: is a Reiki Master and a Karuna Reiki Master and has practiced Reiki since 1989. He is a Middle Eastern drummer and has developed special drum-making workshops for healers, and created the Reiki Drumming shamanic healing technique. Michael states that: "drumming and Reiki assist me in attuning to my higher self, listening to my Divine guidance, and following my heart." He is a Licensed Reiki Master Teacher with the International Center for Reiki Training, and a member of the Sound Healer's Associated. Michael lives in Sedona, AZ with his lovely wife Laurelle Shanti Gaia.
